Court Reports
Court Reports for First Offences :
I provide comprehensive psychological assessments known as Section 10 reports to help clients potentially avoid a conviction for a first offense. With 15 years of experience writing these, I have found that they can significantly improve the outcome for clients.
Under Section 10 of the Crimes (Sentencing Procedure) Act, a judge can decide not to record a conviction even if a person is found guilty. This often happens for first-time offenders, especially when there are strong personal, mental health, or rehabilitative factors that indicate a conviction may not be necessary. A Section 10 report can be advantageous as it gives the court a fuller picture of your individual circumstances, showing how therapy, mental health, or other personal factors have contributed to or been affected by the offence. This is especially useful in cases where rehabilitation and personal growth are evident, helping the judge see reasons for leniency. While drug-related cases are my main area of expertise, I also provide reports for other offences, or as your lawyer advises.
If needed, I am happy to offer a brief, free case review with your lawyer to discuss how a Section 10 report might support a favourable outcome.
