About Saul
“One size never fits all. Each person brings a unique set of experiences to the therapy”.
Saul completed his undergraduate, postgraduate, and master’s degrees at Macquarie University, where he had a special emphasis on research focused on therapists’ perspectives on expertise and factors that create good outcomes in therapy. He then pursued his specialist Clinical training through the APS bridging program. Over the years, he has found that a strong therapeutic relationship often matters just as much as the theory or approach used. Different to many Clinical Psychologists, Saul has been trained in both longer-term, in depth psychotherapy as well as shorter-term approaches.
Saul has also published research and co-authored two books in the area of alcohol and other drug dependence whilst working at the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre earlier in his career. He enjoys working with people who need help with various addictive behaviours and is aware of the various treatment options for people with these problems if they need future direction – rehabs, specialist Gp’s and addiction psychiatrists.
Saul also has a special interest in treating people with trauma and is currently completing specialist training in this in the EMDR modality. He will be treating individuals with this therapy from March next year.
As a part of his practice, Saul has worked as an expert witness by providing court reports for clients. These reports provide the court with a wholistic assessment of the client and may help them in seeking a dismissal for a first offences, or an offence where their mental health played a significant role.
